Kanayama tea has been cultivated for nearly 500 years in Kanayama, a small mountain town in the Hida region of Gifu. Surrounded by mountains and shaped by long, snowy winters, its tea culture has been carefully preserved for generations. It was once presented to Kyoto’s prestigious Kujo family, reflecting its long and distinguished history.

While many houjicha are made from stems or later-harvested leaves, KANAYAMA HOUJI is crafted exclusively from first-flush spring tea leaves, carefully roasted and finely ground using the whole leaf.

Aromatic and deeply roasted, with the mellow richness of sencha, a subtle bitterness, and a warm, caramel-like finish.
